Dear friends As usual I have being waiting 4 months to send this NEWSLETTER. Last year was very challenging for me but it was great as my intention was to make people happy. The biggest challenge was to organize my daughter’s wedding in a very traditional manner. The wedding was held on 6th December 2008 and it was a great colorful inspiring event. I had to do that while attending to consultations in Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan and travelling in China. Then I was in Sri Lanka to see my loved ones and to look into the needs of the poor villagers. Then in January this year I was again in Singapore for consultations. Hence the preparation of this Newsletter got delayed.
I recently started another series of lectures at the Australian Institute of Holistic Medicine. I thoroughly enjoy these lectures as they provide me the chance to firstly talk about the subject that I am very passionate about but also they give me a chance to pass on some of my knowledge about Vedic Astrology.
I am often invited to give talks on Vedic Astrology. I really enjoy them since I get to inform an increasing number of people about the helpful nature of Vedic Astrology and also how to lead a happy life. Please contact me if you would like me to give a talk at any societies, clubs, associations or groups that you may be involved in. The talks are free of charge and most individuals find that they gain a lot from them.
On a more personal note, March and April are very special months for me. After working as a geologist / gemologist for 20 years, on 7th March 2000, I decided to quit from my internationally linked professional arena to practice as an
independent Vedic Astrologer.
Through the past 9 years, I have empowered almost 6000 people around the world to step forward happily, spiritually and to find solutions for the challenges they face in their day to day life. Therefore, the month of March brings me so much happiness and I am very thankful to all those who have consulted me for guidance.
April 8th is my wedding anniversary and I am now 33 years happily married with 2 wonderful children.
My own experiences have helped me to educate my clients re the beauty of a happy marriage and raising wonderful children. I thank my wife Priyanthi for being such a wonderful wife and a great mother. Scroll down and you will see some wonderful tips on how one can have a happy relationship.
April 14th is New Years day for the Sinhalese, Tamils and Hindus because astrologically it is a very important day for those who follow Indian Vedic
Astrology. On this day of the year the planet SUN transits from zodiac sign Pisces to Aries, gaining an exalted powerful nature of the SUN. Sun will retain this power for one month and it will then transit on 13th May from Aries to Taurus.
April 27th is my 58th birthday. I am happy and feel young in my mind and heart. The reason could be my attitude towards my life. I prefer to go slow while making others happy. My biggest wish is to give as much as I can to the needy and the poor.
Since this is a special season for me with quite a few of events to celebrate, I wish to give a gift to all of you. Especially at this volatile time period when so many people are worrying about their wealth, jobs, property etc, I thought of offering you and your friends a gift to get a very special Vedic Astrological Reading.
Because of my 4 special days at this time of the year, I am more than happy to offer a special discount for all the consultations. This offer will be available only on request (by sending an e-mail) before 15th May 2009.
May you gain the full power and protection of the Sun god to lead a happy life.
With lots of love - Theja

Power of Sun during April / May
SUN is the ruler of the zodiac sign Leo.
Sun will be in his most powerful position (exalted) from 14th April – 13th March. Those who were born during that time period will definitely display some of the positive personality straits described here. Though Sun is regarded as a malefic planet, it is actually an auspicious planet. If the Sun is powerful in the horoscope, the Sun has the tendency to give us vitality and the power of resistance and immunity. It is responsible for our physical constitution of the body. The Sun gives confidence, life force, will power, pride, dignity, authority, intellect, brilliance, prosperity, success in worldly affairs, wealth, personal conduct, father’s talents, activity, cheerfulness, good fortune, wisdom, ambition, fame and an understanding about medicine.
Global Financial Crisis – Why?
The global financial crisis is an ongoing issue which is puting a number of countries into a recession and the major stock indexes into a downward spiral. This crisis came to the forefront of the business world and world media in September 2008, with the failure and merging of a number of American financial companies.
Consumer spending has fallen, and banks a much less likely to approve loans, and with many countries now in a recession, there will be more hard times ahead. This is likely to continue effect the world for months and years to come.
Fortunately there are many who will not feel the impact of the crisis and who live happily. They have had no losses. Why is that? That is because they were not madly obsessed in wealth creation with GREED.
Archbishop of Canterbury says that greed has caused the global financial crisis (15th Oct 2008 – Telegraph, UK). I totally agree with the Archbishop’s statement that greed is the main cause but also that it is strengthened by ego, stupidity and dishonesty.
GREED IS AN EXCESSIVE DESIRE TO ACQUIRE OR POSSESS MORE THAN WHAT ONE NEEDS OR DESERVES, ESPECIALLY WITH RESPECT TO MATERIAL WEALTH
Those who are practicing a spiritual lifestyle will not have greed and can minimize or control greed. They will not feel the impact of this financial crisis. Unknowingly because of greed we ruin our relationship, friendship, wealth, family and career etc. Therefore it is much more important to practice a spiritual lifestyle while practicing compassion and loving kindness. That way we can learn to get rid of greed, anger, hatred, ego, aversion, delusion, jealousy and stupidity.
Please appreciate and be happy with what you have. Have time to enjoy what you have and find time to share what you possess with the needy and the poor. That is the only way that one can gain true happiness.
Children in Sri Lanka
For the last couple of years I have being helping a lot to provide the basic needs to poor and needy families in the village (Mawala) that I live in Sri Lanka.I must thank some of my wonderful clients (Singapore and Australia) who have very generously donated money to help the needy. Last year I realized that if we do not educate the children of these poor families the social problems can be much more than we expect. Therefore, I have decided to start helping some children at the village primary school. At a meeting I had with the head master, we decided to select 10 children who are good in their studies but have no funds to pay for additional expenses (i.e. Simple things such as tuition or even school bags and school shoes) to improve their studies. Once in 6 months the school will monitor their progress and the funds will be given only if they are doing well.
The cost for their clothing, books and if necessary for extra lessons will be only A$ 30 (US$ 25) per month. At the moment I am helping 4 children and I also provide financial assistance monthly to 3 families to get their basic needs.
1. Damith Madushankha, 12 years, grade 8
2. Vasana Malkumari, 13 years, grade 9
3. Ishara Dayawansha, 11 years, grade 7
4. Rangika Fernando, 13 years, grade 9
5. Hasitha Sandaruwan, 12 years, grade 8
6. Ruwineetha Lakmali, 12 years, grade 8
7. Janani Sandupama, 12 years, grade 7
8. Ishani Damayanthi, 11 years, grade 6
9. Shavanthi Anuruddhika, 14 years, grade 10
10. Imalsha Kumari, 13 years, grade 9
11. Nadun Rodrigo, 12 years, grade 7
I have another 11 children waiting for such assistance and it will be greatly appreciated if you could help to sponsor a child. Giving and sharing your earnings is a great spiritual act. On top of that there are no words to explain the value of giving wisdom to another. Therefore, if you wish to help please contact me and I can make the arrangements and help for you to communicate directly with the child and the school.
I also have in mind to invite the donors to Sri Lanka to visit these children and to spend some with me in the village atmosphere in Sri Lanka.
How to be happy in a relationship (marriage or any other friendship)
Recently I was lucky to attend a series of discussions with a Buddhist monk. He gave me the following 10 points and I would like to share these points with you. I am sure you will understand the value of these points and how it will help us to maintain a healthy relationship.
The qualities that are the most important to be considered in sustaining a good relationship.
1) Trust yourself first and then the other (need to feel like one another.)
2) Cherish the companionship as this is what a relationship brings. (Understand the word "ship" friendship / partnership / companionship)
3) Compliment each other for all of the good that they bring and give. Always give and wait to get. Never take against what you have given.
4) Correct all shortcomings & inadequacies openly & with respect to one another
5) Be restraint with your speech as expression of words are the cause of "most" conflicts
6) Make sure that you fulfill your duties, responsibilities objectives & commitments towards one another. (First to yourself and then the other. Don't forget your extended family)
7) Enjoy the present and leave the past alone as neither of you can do much about anything that was done, said or felt.
8) Keep a smile on your face all the time, as this will always need a wholesome thought within you to smile about.
9) Make sure that you are aware of how to keep a promise to yourself and with one another. (Make sure that you live by your principles and disciplines)
10) Always be happy, healthy, peaceful and content with the little you possess
Importance of an auspicious date and time
Find auspicious dates and times! (Muhurtas)
What is an auspicious time? Why is it important? This can be better understood with regard to its role in astrology. Astrological reading deals with predictions about a native with regard to the time he or she was born. It is static, fixed and beyond one's control or determination. On the other hand, an auspicious time is dynamic. One can choose the most suitable or auspicious times at different stages of life where there are chances of changes in one's destiny. Thus a marriage performed on a particular day may change the course of one's life. This is not superstition. A marriage taking place at an inauspicious time can lead to disastrous consequences or divorce or life-long agony.
After taking into account twenty-one 'mahadoshas'(great evils) and many other planetary positions and transits, the astrologer suggests an auspicious time attaching great importance to 'lagna' (ascendant or the rising sign) and position of the moon. Thus fixing an auspicious time is a time-consuming arduous task for an Indian astrologer.
Fortunately, I did purchase the most powerful software from Parashara’s Light in US which has the amazing ability to utilize many different astrological techniques combined and come up with a list of the best date/time combinations for the selected events! For all your important events! Now you can get the best date and time for start any event such as a business, purchasing or buying a house, marriage, house warming etc. So, next time before starting any important event please contact me to find best day and time that will help you step forward successfully.

Learn to forgive - Forgiving
Two friends were walking through a desert. We'll call them Bob and Sam. During some part of the journey they got into an argument and Bob slapped Sam in the face. Sam, who was slapped, felt hurt, but without saying anything wrote in the sand; 'Today my best friend slapped me in the face'.
They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. Sam, who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning but his friend pulled him out and saved his life. After he recovered from the near drowning he wrote on a large rock 'Today my best friend saved my life'.Bob, who had first slapped and then saved his friend asked him, 'After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now you write on a rock. Why?
Sam replied, 'When someone hurts us we should write it down on sand where the winds of forgiveness can erase it. But when someone does something good, we must engrave it on stone where no one can ever erase it'.
Learn to write you hurts on sand and carve your blessings on stone.
Availability for lectures, discussions and talks
I recently started another series of lectures at the Australian Institute of Holistic Medicine. Currently my students and I are covering various topics related to Vedic Astrology. I thoroughly enjoy these lectures as they provide me the chance to firstly talk about the subject that I am very passionate about but also they give me a chance to pass on some of my knowledge about Vedic Astrology. I am glad to be able to do this because I strongly believe that even the basic knowledge that the students gain from these lectures will help them significantly in making decisions in their day-to-day lives. If anyone is interested in attending the next series of lectures, please feel free to e-mail me for more information.

Dear Friends Dear Friends Once again after couple of months I have found bit of a time to prepare my Newsletter. I am still thinking of ways and methods to prepare and send a timely Newsletter. I am always so busy with my clients that I rarely find the time to write a monthly newsletter. Fortunately today I have found some spare time and decided to write this newsletter. At the beginning of the year in March, I was in China, Singapore and Japan. The round tour in China was with my wife and it was a great experience. My intention was to see the cultural and spiritual side of China and also to learn about Chinese Astrology and beliefs. It was great to see all the temples, Jade sculptures and especially the Great Wall of China and the Terracotta warriors in Xian. We were in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xian and Beijing. I learnt that the Chinese are very smart – they can build anything and they are very hard working. I take my hat off to them!
After travelling in After that, at the end of April I travelled to Japan. This was my first visit and the purpose of this visit was to introduce Vedic Astrology to the Japanese market. I was in Tokyo and also in Shizuoka. It was great to work with Japanese people and they were very interested in Indian Vedic Astrology. The people were very friendly and the hospitality was great and it reminded me of the hospitality back at home in Sri Lanka. I really enjoyed the food (Sushi, Sashimi, Tempura, Soba, Raman etc) and the culture. Luckily I was there at the correct time to see the beautiful Cherry blossoms tree.
After coming back from the big tour I had the usual pile of work on my desk to attend to and I was busy with so many clients who were waiting for me. Now again in October, I look forward to visiting Japan after spending a week or two in Hong Kong. December will be a busy month for our family due to my daughter’s wedding. We are now doing all the preparation for the big day. After that I look forward to spending 2 weeks in Sri Lanka to attend to my charitable activities to help the needy and the poor as well as to visit my family. May you all gain a lot of happiness, good health, wealth and energy to lead a happy and contented life. May the 9 planets bless and protect you all forever! With Love THEJA
Thank you – I really enjoy my profession as an astrologer a lot
As usual I kept busy during last 6 months and it was great meeting wonderful clients. I have the feeling that I learned a lot day by day by analysing so many birth charts. I have tried my best to give as much as information to my clients in a way to help them to see the beautiful side of life and to empower them to step forward wisely and courageously in spite of day today challenges that they face. I feel like I am not only an Astrologer but also a spiritual Life Coach or a healer. I really enjoy and I thank all my clients for giving me that happiness and taking time to discuss personal issues with me.
As usual I wish to remind that one should re check the horoscope and do a review consultation once in 18 months. If you have not done it is high time to do so as the planetary positions have changed a lot with in last 2 years.

The generous donations had helped me a lot to look into the needs of many families in Sri Lanka. Recently a young Indian gentleman left $ 1000 on my table asking me to add into my charitable activities in Sri Lanka. Likewise there were many wonderful people leaving money on the table to support my activities in Sri Lanka.
I have many more projects to do and I look forward to get those projects organised when I am in Sri Lanka in December. No matter how much you donate, your donation will definitely help many to be happy in life.
I use my own earnings to look after 4 families in Sri Lanka on regular basis and the additional funds I get has helped me to the following:
1. Nandasena, his wife Ranjanee and two children were living in a house with out windows and doors for 15
years. They had no money to complete their small house. Can you believe how a family can live in a house like that especially in a country with heavy monsoon rain and mosquitoes, insects and serpents?
With the money we collected we managed to provide them windows and doors and I have no words to explain their gratitude and happiness.
2. Gayan’s father is a labourer and mother works in paddy fields.
Young Gayan gave up his studies when he came to year 10 as parents were not in a position to spend for his education (books and tuitions etc). When I met him I realise how intelligent he is and I agreed to spend for his studies. I ma very happy to inform that he completed his year 10 very well and was promoted to a bigger school to study for his university entrance exam. I have agreed to spend for his studies until he complete his university education provided he shows me good results once in 6 months.
3. Renuka is a middle age mother having 2 daughters. Her husband died in the ethnic war in Sri Lanka and she
was living in a very small house. Due to the financial burdens they could not complete the roof other than two rooms. Thank to my clients, because of their generous donations we managed to put the roof to front veranda. After that it was great to see how three of them sitting and enjoying the out side view from the veranda.
Vedic Astrology – in a nut shell
Indian Vedic Astrology
Vedic Astrology will empower you to take correct decisions and to step forward wisely and positively without worrying about the challenges that we face daily. It will let you know your natural strengths, talents and values gifted to you at birth. Vedic Astrology will show you how to capitalise those gifts, and how to step forward powerfully and spiritually to lead a happy and contented life. It will empower you to create a more positive life path by understanding your past and current obstacles. It is a marvelous predictive science appreciated by many as a tool helping them to brighten their life.
Did you experience Mercury retrograde ?
Mercury goes retrograde 3 times a year and it lasts for about 3 weeks. This time it was from May 27 to June 19. Read the rest and see whether you experience anything closer to the following issues. I had computer problems, misunderstanding of e-mails, my voice was bad due to flu and was not easy to do readings etc.
Mercury will retrograde again from September 24 to October 15, 2008 and then from January 11, 2009 to February 1, 2009. During these periods depending on the strength of the Mercury in your horoscope, you will some delays or obstacles in following areas.
Businesses, travels and all matters related to communications may experience delays and numerous problems. Computers and other devices that work with information may experience crashes, unexpected failures.
May not be a good time to enroll to courses, to buy expensive Mercury related items (books, cars, mobile phones, communication equipment etc.), Better to avoid signing important contracts or read them more than twice before signing.
This is a good time to catch up with neglected or old projects that never got to be finished. So, think about the things you started and never finalized.
To prevent any bad things to happen to you, better to double-check your agenda, call your business partners to confirm that everything goes as planned, have everything ready before the deadline and leave some extra time for unexpected events. Make copies of your important files and documents, save your work more often.
The other solution is to go on vacation or at least slow down the pace of your projects. You will find that going slowly during the Mercury retrograde period will spare you many efforts of redoing the same action that wasn't performed right the first time.
KNOWING A BETTER WAY TO LIVE

How to Meditate
There are lots of different meditation techniques but here is a simple and easy one based on counting the breaths.
1. Sit upright on a straight-backed chair or sit cross-legged on a cushion on the floor. Try to maintain a relaxed pose but keep the back straight and the head slightly bowed. No need for contortions - be kind to your knee joints!
2. Close your eyes, check for muscle tension throughout your body and focus on the area that is causing the tension, consciously relaxing the muscles.
3. Make sure your mouth is closed and focus on the breath entering your nostrils. Don't try to force or regulate the breath, just breathe normally. Gradually, your breathing will become steadier and more gentle but there's no need to consciously aim to achieve this. Let the natural rhythm of your breathing take charge.
4. After a few minutes, begin to make a mental note of the breaths 'one' [in breath] 'one' [out breath], 'two' [in breath] 'two' [out breath] and so on up to ten.
5. What you will find is that your mind wanders - as the mind does! Don't be put off by this, the mind is used to getting its own way and having a totally free rein. Just keep coming back to the counting and do this for ten to fifteen minutes.
6. If you prefer, don't bother counting and just concentrate on the breath as the air touches your nostrils. Make this the focus of your attention.
7. Don't try to achieve anything. Meditation is not a feat of endurance or a quest for dramatic experiences. At its most basic it's a means of relaxing both body and mind.
8. Practice this every day - morning and evening if possible - and see for yourself the benefits that develop from it.
9. As you get into the habit of meditating you might like to sit for longer periods. It will depend, to a large extent, on your other commitments.
10. Finally, this is one meditation method amongst many others. Explore other methods and find one that suits you.

Happiness the greatest wealth
Are you truly happy? Are you really satisfied with your life?
If you are, then it is of great importance. Happiness is the greatest wealth that you can own. You, and you alone can gain it, or lose it - no one else can do it for you; by the same token, no one can take it away from you either.
We either grieve over what we have lost, or what we do not have, and are not satisfied with what we do have. People would not be content even if it rained gold
The root of unhappiness is desire. So, to be happy, we have to make every effort to control our desire, no matter how large or small. Running after every want, need, and whim sends happiness speeding away from us.
So, be satisfied with what you have, rather than yearning for what you don't
. Just as night follows day, so too will happiness follow you throughout karmic journey.
